Stevens Enjoys Another Record Setting Day
RESULTS
ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. (October 4, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's golf team set a new single-round record Sunday after shooting a 295 at the Mason Dixon Collegiate Classic.
The two-day, 15-team tournament is taking place at the par-72 The Bridges Golf Club. Combined with the 310 from yesterday, the Ducks also set a new two-round program record with a 605. Both records were set just last weekend at the Hamilton College Invitational.
With the score, the Ducks finished in fifth place.
Junior
Frank Szucs led the Ducks with a 71, placing him in a tie for third individually after his 76 on Saturday. Szucs birdied both the par-5 eighth hole, and the par-4 ninth to put him 2-under heading into the back nine.
Freshman
Tyler Balkema carded a 73, while freshman
Ezekiel Zhao finished with a 76 after finishing his round with a hole-out eagle from 105 yards out. Freshmen
Jack Doherty rounded-out the Ducks scoring with a 75, while senior
Justin Niemeier shot a 78.
The scores were the lowest of both Balkema's and Doherty's careers, giving them their third and fourth sub-80 rounds respectively of the fall season.
Allegheny College held-on to its day-one lead to take the team title, while Jesse Clemente shot a total of 143 to take the individual crown.
After back-to-back record setting weekends, the Ducks will continue their fall schedule next weekend with the two-day NYU/Manhattanville Invitational.
