NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (September 27, 2015)
– The Stevens Institute of Technology men's golf team shot a record-low 300 Sunday to take fourth place at the Hamilton College Invite.

The two-day tournament was held at the par-71 Yahnundasis Golf Club. Combined with Saturday's 311, the Ducks finished the weekend with an overall 611, a new two-round program record.

Sticking with the theme of the day, junior Frank Szucs set a school record with a 69 for a third place overall finish, while freshman Tyler Balkema shot a 75, freshman Jack Doherty a 77, and senior Justin Niemeier a 79. The score for Balkema was a personal best for the Stevens rookie, and placed him in ninth individually.

Szucs put an exclamation point on his historic round with a 30-foot birdie put on his final hole.

The Ducks previous single round record was 302 shot at the Utica College Fall Invitational in 2013, while the previous two-round record was 620 set in 2012 at the Penn State-Harrisburg Classic. Individually, Szucs and Tom Merriam shared the program record with a 71 set in 2013 and 2008 respectively.

Host Hamilton College took the team title with a 601, while Manhttanville College (602) and Williams College (609) rounded-out the top three. Williams' Jackson Moss took the indvidiual crown with a 150.

The Ducks will be back in action next weekend with the two-day Mason Dixon Classic in Abbottstown, Pa.
