Stevens WLAX Participates in Tunnel To Towers Run
HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 30, 2015) – Twenty-four members of the Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team participated in the Tunnel to Towers Foundation 5k run this past Sunday.
The event follows the footsteps of Stephen Siller, a New York City Firefighter who lost his life on 9/11 after abounding his truck to run through the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel in full gear toward the World Trade Center. This weekend marked the 11th consecutive year the team has participated in the run.
The event benefits the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundatoin, which has raised more than $40 million for our nation's first responders and service members. More than six of these events have been run in September alone from all around the country, all of which have raised money for the foundation.
The event serves not only as an important team-building exercise for the Ducks, but an important way to recognize our country's military members and first responders. As a team, the Ducks raised $1,500.
