Following the Empire 8 Field Hockey Tournament and the naming of the Most Valuable Player, the entire 2015 All-tournament team has been announced.

Stevens – Dailyn Brook (MVP), Nolie Prouty, Janet Vill and Victoria Alvarez
Ithaca – Hannah Gerber, Caitlin O’Brien and Cassie Schuttrumpf
St. John Fisher – Alex Malley and Danielle Famalaro
Washington & Jefferson – Alana Boyd and Lauren Brown

Brook was named the tournament’s most outstanding player as she tallied nine points off four goals and an assist in the two games. The wins clinched Stevens' spot in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010, and marked the first time a three-seed had ever won a field hockey conference title.

Prouty registered her 12 assist of the season as she found Brook in the 42nd minute for the equalizer in the semifinal against Fisher.  In the title game she fed Brook again with what proved to be the game winner in the 39 minute.

Vill managed one shot during the semifinal against Fisher and helped hold the Cardinals to seven total shots, only two on goal.  Against Ithaca

Alvarez assisted on Brook’s game-winning goal in overtime against Fisher in the semifinal. She then scored in the 58th minute of the championship game to give Stevens a 3-1 lead.

Gerber and O’Brien anchored a Bomber defensive unit that held W&J scoreless for Ithaca’s ninth shutout of the year and snapped the President’s seven game win streak.  It was the first time Ithaca had won an Empire 8 postseason game in five tries. In the championship game, Gerber recorded one defensive save and O’Brien scored in the 24th minute to make it a 1-1 game.

Schuttrumpf helped get the Bombers on the scoreboard in the 49th minute of the semifinal game when she ripped a back-handed shot toward the near post and her teammate redirected the shot for a 1-0 lead.  In the title game, she put one of her two shots on target.

Malley played in her 19th straight game at midfield for the Cardinals. She aided the offense that scored 25 minutes into the semifinal game for a 1-0 lead. On defense she helped deny the Ducks from gaining a large lead as Stevens was awarded 20 penalty corners but couldn’t capitalize and eventually the Cardinals would fall in overtime.

Famalaro played in her third overtime game of the season and recorded seven saves. It was the most saves she had made since Sept. 30.

Boyd and the President’s held top-seeded Ithaca scoreless for the first 48 minutes of the semifinal.

The President’s only managed five total shots, two of which were on net, and one was by Brown who had the best scoring opportunity for W&J with 5:45 remaining but her shot was deflected.
