2015 Women's Soccer All-Tournament Team and MVP

The 2015 Empire 8 Women's Soccer All-Tournament Team has been announced. 
 
Stevens – Zisi Komar (MVP), Raba Nassif, Whitney Brown, Sammy Mount
Ithaca – Kelsey King, Amiee Chimera, Sarah Woychick
Nazareth – Jessica Barden and Erin Strollo
Houghton –Meagan Barry and Sarah Gabriele
 
Komar was named the Championship’s Most Valuable Player. She scored the first two goals of the semifinal game against Houghton in the third and 23rd minute, respectively. In the championship game she scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 22nd minute to give Stevens a 2-0 lead.
 
Nassif tallied two assists in the semifinal game and took four shots on goal.  In the championship game she fired eight shots, four of which were on goal.
 
Mount scored the third goal in the 4-0 semi-final win over Houghton when she headed in a corner kick from Nassif. She registered one shot against Ithaca in the championship game.
 
Brown anchored a defensive unit that allowed only one goal in 180 minutes of play and the goal came on a penalty kick.  Brown and the Ducks allowed only four shots on goal by Houghton and allowed nationally ranked Ithaca to place nine on net.
 
King placed five of Ithaca’s nine shots on goal in the championship game including a converted a penalty kick in the 53rd minute to cut the deficit to 2-1.  She also applied offensive pressure in the semifinal game as she placed three of her four shots on target.
 
Woychick was credited with the assist in the fifth minute of the semifinal game against Nazareth and then she scored the game-winning goal in the 84th minute to send Ithaca to the championship game.
 
Chimera and the Bomber defensive unit held Nazareth to nine total shots and allowed goal in the semifinals to advance to the E8 championship game for the fourth straight year and 11th time overall. In a battle of two nationally ranked teams for the E8 title, Chimera faced a high pressure offense from Stevens that saw two goals on 24 shots.
 
Barden and Strollo held strong on the defensive line for Nazareth as they limited Ithaca to seven shots on net.
 
Barry had her work cut out for her in the defensive end of the field against a tough Ducks squad. Stevens managed 22 shots in the game but thanks to Barry and her line, only 11 managed to be on goal.
 
Gabriele provided the best scoring changes for Houghton as she tried multiple times from varied distance to play shots over the keeper’s head, coming within inches of scoring as the ball skimmed over the cross bar.
