Stevens Falls In NCAA Second Round
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. (NOVEMBER 14, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team fell to No. 4 Ursinus College 10-0 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday.
The Ducks end the 2015 campaign with a 14-8 record, and the 14 wins were tied for the fourth most in program history.
Amber Steigerwalt opened the scoring for the Bears just 48 seconds into the game, and added her second nearly five minutes later. Megan Keenan recorded a pair of the goals in the opening 20 minutes, and Ursinus would tally two more to give the hosts a 6-0 halftime edge.
The Bears added four goals in the second half before the Ducks put forth their only shot of the afternoon, an attempt by senior
Dailyn Brook that was blocked. The Ducks best chance came at the end of the second half, but were unable to convert a pair of penalty corner opportunities.
Junior
Emily Stukenborg made 13 saves to go over 130 saves for the season, while freshman
Hannah Silvestri recorded her first career defensive save.
The Bears saw four players record multiple goals, while Keenan fired eight shots during the contest.
