HOBOKEN, N.J. (NOVEMBER 15, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament with a 4-1 victory over Bowdoin College Sunday.

Stevens moved to 18-3-1, while Bowdoin fell to 13-6-1. The Ducks will take on Williams College in the next round, with a date and time to be announced tomorrow.

The Ducks had an early opportunity to put a goal on the board, but a cross by sophomore Sammy Mount sailed over the net. Stevens had the eight of the first 10 shot attempts of the game, but it was their 11th shot that broke the deadlock. Bowdoin goalkeeper Bridget McCarthy stopped a shot by freshman Olivia Butera, but classmate Zisi Komar was in the right place at the right time and collected a rebound for her 20th goal of the year.

Just 1:43 later, it was junior Raba Nassif with a great individual effort to double the advantage. Nassif collected the ball at midfield, deked around a host of Polar Bear defenders and fired a left foot strike over McCarthy for her 17th marker of the year. Bowdoin nearly cut the lead in half in with 21:33 left, but a header off a corner by Lauren McLaughin rang off the post.

Bowdoin came out strong in the second frame, with shots by Nikki Wilson and Maggie Godley that sophomore goalkeeper Lindsey Mahnken was just able to punch away. Nassif added her second of the evening after taking a long pass from senior Carly Bean and rifled one in the top half of the net.

16 seconds after the Nassif goal, Nikki Wilson got Bowdoin on the board as she collected a loose ball off a scramble and beat Mahnken. Nassif reestablished the three goal margin as she danced around the Polar Bear defense and went top shelf to complete the hat trick. Bowdoin was only able to put one additional shot on goal after the fourth Stevens marker.

Nassif had nine shots, while Komar had seven. Mahnken was active in net, making six saves while allowing just the one goal.

Wilson led the Polar Bears with four shots, while Lauren McLaughlin and Maggie Godley finished with three apiece.
