Five E8 Runners Qualify for NCAA's

The NCAA released its team and individual qualifiers for the Division III Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships on Sunday, and three women and two men will represent the Empire 8 on Nov. 21 in Winneconne, Wis.
This year's national championship is hosted by Wisconsin-Oshkosh at the Lake Breeze Golf Course. The women's race is set to begin at 12 p.m. EST and the men follow at 1:30 p.m. Thirty-two teams automatically qualified for the meet, while 16 more were selected as at-large teams. Fifty-six individuals were also chosen to compete next Saturday.
Ithaca senior Sawer Hitchcock placed seventh at the Atlantic Regional on Nov. 14 with a time of 25:30.0 to qualify for his second consecutive national meet. He led Ithaca to a fourth place team finish on the 8K course at Letchworth State Park.
Stevens Institute of Technology Greg Arabagian qualified based on his 11th place finish at the Atlantic Region Championships. He ran the 8K in 25:39.1 and is the second male in Stevens program history to qualify of the NCAAs.
Ithaca sophomores Taryn Cordani and Denise Ibarra will be making their first appearances at NCAA's. Cordani was the runner-up on Saturday as she clocked a time of 21:56.7 to notch the best finish by an Ithaca women's runner at regionals since at least 2004. Ibarra earned an at-large spot in the championship after she finished 14th at regionals with a time of 22:29.5.
Stevens freshman Mary Visca is the second female in Stevens women's cross country program history to qualify for NCAA's. Visca placed 16
th individually at the Atlantic Regional with a time 22:30 for the 6K.
