E8 Runners Land Seven USTFCCCA All-Region Honors
2015 USTFCCCA All-Region Cross Country Teams
Four members of the Empire 8 women's cross country teams and three men's runners were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region selections.
A total of 560 student-athletes (280 men, 280 women) from 244 programs earned the distinction by crossing the finish line among the top-35 individual finishers at one of the eight regional sites across the nation. In order to be recognized, a student-athlete must compete for a school that is a member of the USTFCCCA.
Leading the way for the Bombers was sophomore Taryn Cordani who finished as the runner-up at the race with a time of 21:56.7. Cordani produced the best finish by a Bombers runner since at least 2004 and automatically qualifies for the NCAA Division III Championships next Saturday, Nov. 21 in Winneconne, Wis.
Sophomore Denise Ibarra also put together an all-region effort with a 14th place showing in a time of 22:29.5.
Stevens freshman Mary Visca finished the 6K with a time of 22:30.1 and was named All-Region based on her 16th place finish.
Senior Gabrielle LeBihan raced to a 31st place finish after clocking a 22:57.7 over the 6-kilometer course.
Senior Sawyer Hitchcock qualified for his second consecutive NCAA Division III Championship with a seventh place finish on Saturday on the 8K course with a time of 25:30.0. Hitchcock finished just .06 seconds from sixth overall, and will run again next Saturday, Nov. 21 in Winneconne, Wis.
Sophomore Greg Arabagian was named All-Region thanks to an 11th place time of 25:39.1.
Junior Sean Phillips earned all-region honors with a time of 26:00.9 which put him in 22nd overall.
