Malia Earns Academic All-America Honors

Courtney Malia of the women's soccer has been named to the 2015 Academic All-America Division III second team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). In all, 33 members across the country make up the Academic All-America women's Division III team.
Malia was advanced to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot after being selected as a First team All-District 3 honoree in October.
The senior started 12 games at defense and helped Nazareth (12-3-3) secure a conference-best .61 goals against average. She also added a goal and two assists during the season on the offensive end.
For her career, Malia appeared in 73 games for the Golden Flyers, registering four goals and eight assists. In 2014, Malia also started regularly for Nazareth contributing three goals and four assists for a team that finished 15-4-4 and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
Malia delivered in the classroom as well, with a 3.99 grade-point average as a Math Education major. She has served the athletic department as a Student Athlete Mentor and has been a regular fixture on the college's Dean's List, which recognizes students with GPAs of 3.5 or higher.
