Fuentes, Licata and Stephens Named to D3football.com Team of the Week
St. John Fisher College corner back Brandon Fuentes, Alfred University linebacker A.J. Licata and Morrisville State linebacker Wallace Stephens have been named to the
D3football.com National Team of the Week after their performances on Oct. 31.
D3football.com is in its 17th season of selecting a National Team of the Week. The website staff selects players at each position from the top performances from across the country at the Division III level.
CB Brandon Fuentes, Sr., St. John Fisher
On Ithaca's first offensive play of the game, Fuentes intercepted a pass and went 44 yards for the touchdown return. The touchdown gave Fisher a 7-0 lead, as the Cardinals routed the Bombers, 34-0, marking Ithaca's first shutout since 2002. Fuentes also intercepted a pass in the second half.
LB A.J. Licata, So., Alfred
Licata had 16 tackles (eight solo, two for loss and a sack) and an interception in Alfred's 35-13 win at Brockport. He spearheaded a defense that held Brockport standout tailback Dan Andrews, who came in averaging 157 yards rushing per contest, to just 56 yards on 15 carries.
LB Wallace Stephens, Jr., Morrisville State
Stephens led the Mustang defensive unit to a 42-28 victory over No. 20 Cortland on Saturday, registering nine total tackles. Of his nine, four were solo stops, three were for a loss of 11 yards, including two that were recorded as sacks. Stephens also registered a forced fumble and had a pass breakup in the win.
