Three Corvias ECAC Athletes of the Week

Three Empire 8 student-athletes have been honored as the Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Athletes of the Week in the region for their performances during the week of Nov. 30 - Dec. 6, 2015.

Men’s Basketball – Upstate
Player of the Week
Mitch Ford – Nazareth College, Sr., Center, Victor, N.Y. 
Mitch Ford had three double-doubles on the week as he averaged 19.7 points and 11.7 rebounds. Ford shot 46 percent from the field (19-for-41) and 74 percent (20-of-27) from the free throw line. He started the week with 28 points and 11 rebounds against Geneseo on Wednesday, and then had 20 points and 12 boards on Friday verse Hobart. Ford capped the week on Saturday with 11 points and 12 rebounds against St. John Fisher.

Men’s Basketball – Upsate
Rookie of the Week
Peter Ezema – Ithaca College, Fr., Guard, New York, N.Y.
Peter Ezema shot .714 percent from the floor as he helped guide Ithaca to a 1-1 record last week. Ezema averaged 10 points and 7.5 rebounds to go along with 3.5 steals. Against Cortland, Ezema tallied eight points and nine rebounds on 4-of-7 shooting before adding 12 points and six boards on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor against St. Lawrence.

Women’s Indoor Track & Field – Upstate
Athlete of the Week
Amy Regan – Stevens Institute of Technology, Sr., Green Brook, N.J. 
Amy Regan broke the school record in the 5,000-meter run at the Metro Holiday Season Opener on Saturday. Her time of 16:37.56 bested the field by over a minute, and was the fourth-fastest time ever ran in Division III history. The senior was named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association DIII National Athlete of the Week for her efforts.
