Woodburn Named AFCA All-American

Thomas Woodburn (West Islip, NY/West Islip) of the Utica College football team was named to the
2015 AFCA Division III Coaches' All-America Team announced Monday, Dec. 14 by the American Football Coaches Association. Woodburn becomes the program's first ever AFCA All-American.
Woodburn, who was the Empire 8 Conference Special Teams Player of the Year and an All-Region selection, was the only kicker selected as an All-American. The Fred Mitchell Award finalist led the team in scoring with 90 points (22 field goals, 24 PAT's), which tied the College's single-season record. He was the Division III leader with 2.2 field goals per game this past season. His 22 field goals this year are 2nd in Division III history and his 41 career field goals ranks 18th all-time in Division III. Woodburn, a two-time all-conference pick, will graduate as the school's all-time leading scorer with 232 career points.
Utica wrapped up the 2015 campaign with a 4-6 overall record and a 3-5 mark in the Empire 8 Conference. As a team the Pioneers finished the year ranked third on the College's single season list with 1,336 rushing yards and third with 2,762 passing yards. UC finished with the second most yards of total offense (4,098) in program-history. The Pioneer defense also tied the school-record with 15 interceptions this season and their 34.0 sacks is a new school-record.
