DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) released its yearly women's volleyball awards yesterday and four members of the Empire 8 program were recognized as Metro/Upstate All-Stars. Full release

Ithaca freshman Katie Evans was named Rookie of the Year and was also a second-team honoree. Evans ranked among the nation's best in hitting percentage this season, swinging at a .357 clip, which was 22nd nationally out of 250 ranked student-athletes and first overall as a freshman.

Evans adds this achievement to a long list of accolades after her freshman campaign. She was already named Empire 8 Conference and AVCA New York Region Rookie of the Year, along with an AVCA Honorable Mention All-America nod, first-team member of the Empire 8 and AVCA New York Region.

Sophomore Joelle Goldstein also found a spot in the second-team after a solid season in which she led Ithaca in points, points per set and kills. Goldstein was also an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American, AVCA New York Region and E8 first-teamer. The Kings Park, N.Y. native also earned an all-tournament nod for the NCAA Division III Potsdam Regional.

Stevens junior Mary Tobin was tabbed the E8 Player of the Year in addition to being named First Team All-E8. The Boothwyn, Pa. native was also named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-American team in November. Tobin became the third player in program history to record both 1,000 career kills and digs earlier this year.

Stevens sophomore Sydni Horner was chosen as the E8 Libero/Defensive Specialist of the Year after leading the E8 with 649 digs. Like Tobin, she also reached 1,000 career digs, and was named to the AVCA Honorable Mention All-American team. The Maryland native reached 30 digs in a match twice this season, including a season-best 31 against Endicott College.
