Eight Field Hockey Players Named All Region

Eight Empire 8 Athletic Conference field hockey student-athletes were named to the 2015 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-Region Teams for the North Atlantic Region.

Of the eight honorees, three were first team selections and five were second team.

Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey senior Dailyn Brook and Ithaca College juniors Katie Lass and Colleen Keegna-Twombly landed on the first team.  Ithaca senior Caitlin O'Brien, St. John Fisher senior Elizabeth Cusack, Stevens junior Nolie Prouty, Utica College senior Colleen Dowling and Washington & Jefferson junior Amanda Steffey were named to the second team.

Brook scored 15 goals to go along with eight assists in 21 starts this season, marking the fourth time in as many years that Brook finished top-two on the team in scoring. Brook also cemented her name into the record books when she became the Ducks all-time leading scorer and finished her career second in points.

Lass, a second-team all-region last season, put together a superb junior campaign. She ranked among the top goalkeepers in all of NCAA Division III in save percentage, goals against average and shutouts. At season's end, Lass ranked eighth in shutouts with nine, 10th in goals against average at 0.89 and 14th in save percentage at .837. Lass was named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year this season.

Keegan-Twombly led the Ithaca offense in points with 33 and goals with 15 in all 18 games played. She tallied five game-winning goals this season, and scored at least one in nine of the Bombers' final 10 contest this season, including a hat trick in a 7-0 victory over Wells on Oct. 7.

O'Brien, who recently played in the DIII Senior All-Star Game, started all 18 games this season and notched 14 points on five goals and four assists as a back. O'Brien ranked fourth in all three categories, and she put in one game-winner against Stevens on Oct. 11.

Cusack made her fourth-straight appearance on the All-Conference Team and second as a First Team selection. In the 2015 regular season, Cusack finished second on the team in goals (13) and tied for first in assists (6) while totaling 32 points.  She completes her career as Fisher's all-time goal scoring leader with 42 goals in her career. The senior also sits in first in career points with 98 and third on the all-time assist list with 14 career assists.

Prouty, a first team all-conference selection, served as the Ducks primary table-setter, leading the team and the conference with 13 assists this season. The mark was the third most in the history of the program for a single season, and combined with eight goals, placed Prouty third on the team with 29 points.

Dowling, who recently participated in the Division III Senior All Star game, was a First Team All-Conference selection this year.  She finished her senior campaign tied for the team lead in points (17) and collected a team-best nine assists.  She totaled 67 points (19 goals, 29 assists) in 82 career games played at UC.  She ranks seventh all-time in total points and fourth in career assists.

Steffey, a first team All-Empire 8 selection this season, established new career highs this season in each offensive category, registering 13 goals, seven assists, 33 points and 97 shots. She ranked in the top seven in the Empire 8 in each category, including third in shots and second in shots per game (5.11). In 2015, Steffey recorded one hat trick and three multi-goal games, giving her three hat tricks and eight multi-goal games for her career.
