UC Women's Basketball Raises $1,535 for Lena Dorsagno
UTICA, NY -- The Utica College women's basketball team hosted "A Game for Brooks Miles" on Saturday as the Pioneers hosted Bard College. The Pioneers and Albany Street Elementary School raised a total of $1,535.23 and is donating those funds to Lena Dorsagno.
The women's basketball team held a 50/50 raffle and a bake sale throughout the contest to raise money for the Dorsagno family.
Utica College Alum Dr. Greg Rorick '98 and his wife Angela lost their son, Brooks, shortly after he was born in 2008 from heart complications. Angela is head coach
Michele Davis's cousin and the two of them thought up the idea for this charitable game during the summer of 2012.
Greg, Angela and their son Cooper sent the highest regards for all the support. "Through the outpouring of love and support from our family, friends, and community, we were able to move forward. With that, we have been able to donate to a variety of causes in memory of our son, Brooks Miles. We would like to thank Coach Davis, the Utica College Basketball teams, Utica College, Albany Elementary School and this wonderful community for allowing us another opportunity to donate in memory of Brooks Miles to Lena Dorsagno."
