Ithaca Women Compete at Invitational
The Ithaca College women's swimming and diving team competed in the Ithaca Invitational against Geneseo Saturday afternoon at the Athletics & Events Center Aquatics Pavilion. The meet marked the Bombers final competition before the Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association Championships next week. There was no team scoring at the event.
Ithaca's lone relay victory came in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the team of
Heidi Mickunas,
Jennifer Francisco,
Megan Zart and
Lianna Reis earned the top spot with a time of 1:46.46.
Three individuals captured the top spot in their respective events including
Brenna Dowd,
Michelle Heidgerken and
Geneva Bielenberg. Dowd impressed with a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:14.78. Heidgerken followed with the top time in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 1:10.30, while the 100-yard backstroke was taken by Bielenberg with a time of 2:27.65.
Anna Belson paced the field in 3-meter diving, earning a first-place finish with a score of 459.96. She concluded the day with the top score in the 1-meter board, finishing with a score of 477.07.
Ithaca's next meet will be the UNYSCSA Championships, starting on Feb. 18 in Webster, N.Y.
