Men’s Basketball Player – Elmira
Neil Randolph, Senior, Forward – Wicklow, Ireland/Presentation
Neil Randolph averaged 21.0 points and 4.0 rebounds last week to guide Elmira to a pair of Empire 8 Conference wins over Stevens and second-place Hartwick. He went 12-for-28 (42.9%) from the floor and 10-for-22 (45.5%) from 3-point range. He scored 24 of his weekend's 42 points in a 15-point win over Hartwick, a game that he knocked down six 3-point buckets. His six 3-pointers increased Elmira's season total to 200, snapping a 16-year old program record.
Men’s Basketball Rookie – Ithaca
Marc Chasin, Freshman, Guard – Coral Gables, FL/Gulliver
Freshman Marc Chasin had an impressive weekend for the Bombers, starting with his first career double-double against Hartwick on Friday. Chasin scored 16 points and recorded career-high 10 boards. He followed that with a career-high 38 points against Stevens on Saturday, marking the highest point total of any Bomber this season. He averaged 27 points and 8.5 rebounds-per-game over the weekend.
Women’s Basketball Player – St. John Fisher
Mary Kate Cusack, Junior, Guard – Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa
In a 2-0 week, Mary Kate Cusack averaged 23.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals, while committing just one turnover. She scored 30 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the floor and tied Fisher’s single-game record for 3-pointers with eight in the win over Nazareth on Saturday. She also led her team with six rebounds in the win. Cusack tallied 17 points in a win over Houghton on Friday.
Women’s Basketball Rookie – Elmira
Danielle Cleary, Freshman, Guard – Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy
In three games, Danielle Cleary averaged 18.0 points per game and 3.7 rebounds, while also registering five steals, five assists, and two blocks. She logged a pair of 20-plus point performances, including a career-high 28 points against visiting Penn College. Her 28 points are the most scored by an Elmira freshman in over 13 years.
Men's Indoor Track Athlete – Stevens
Nicholas Zickgraf, Sophomore – Kenilworth, NJ/David Brearly
Nicholas Zickgraf took home two first-place titles during the Empire 8 Indoor Championship on Saturday. He set a facility record time of 4:21.79 in the mile run and claimed another first place win in the 800 meter, besting the old conference record with a time of 22.47 seconds.
Men's Indoor Field Athlete – St. John Fisher
Mark VanMarter, Freshman – Liverpool, NY/Liverpool
Freshman Mark VanMarter was named the Field Athlete of the Meet at the Empire 8 Indoor Championship after winning the long jump in 7.02, a new facility record. VanMarter also finished second in the triple jump.
Women's Indoor Track Athlete – Nazareth
Hannah Brackley, Senior – Horseheads, NY/Elmira Notre Dame
Hannah Brackley was named Track Athlete of the Meet at Saturday's Empire 8 Indoor Championship as she finished first in the 200 and 400-meter dashes, and anchored Nazareth's winning 4x400 meter relay. She broke her own school record in the 200 (25.98 seconds) and was just a couple of ticks away in the 400 (58.36 seconds) and in the relay (4:08.9).
Women's Indoor Field Athlete – Ithaca
Emilia Scheemaker, Senior – Scarborough, ME/Scarborough
Emilia Scheemaker was named Field Athlete of the Meet at Saturday’s Empire 8 Indoor Championship after taking first place in the long jump and the triple jump. The senior set facility records in both events with a 5.17-meter long jump and a 11.68-meter triple jump.
