15 B Cut Times on Day 2 at Men's E8 Championships

WEBSTER, N.Y. - Stevens Institute of Technology maintained its lead after day two of the Empire 8 Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday. The Ducks have 534 points. Ithaca trails them in second with 409.5 points. Hartwick is third (325.5).

Only 0.66 seconds separated the top three teams in the 200 Freestyle Relay. Stevens won for the second straight season, touching the wall in an NCAA B cut time of 1:22.89. Tommy Wolinski, Ethan Gehenio, Jack Rees, and Joshua Lefeber combined for the win. Ithaca’s time of 1:23.38 also met B cut standards and Alfred took third (1:23.55).

After finishing second last season, Stevens junior Ravi Sun claimed the championship with a B cut time of 4:02.30. Hartwick’s Ben Detar took second in 4:04.53, which was also a B cut finish. Ithaca senior Lucas Zelehowsky finished in third place at 4:09.80.

The top three times during the regular season in the 100 Butterfly came from three Stevens Ducks – junior Joshua Lefeber, sophomore Austen Young, and freshman Brenna Maxwell. The trio made up the top three in the finals tonight with Young capturing the conference crown in an NCAA B time of 49.94. Lefeber was second (50.15) with Maxwell earning third (50.50).

Hartwick senior Miles Blaney secured his second title at the championships with a victory in the 200 Freestyle. His 1:40.29 met NCAA B qualifying standards. He beat out Alfred senior Dave Coombs (1:41.05) and Ithaca junior Addison Hebert (1:41.70).

In the 1-meter diving event, a familiar face topped the scoring as Ithaca senior Matt Morrison captured the championship for the third consecutive year. His final score in the event was 562.80.

Ending the night was the 400 Medley Relay. 0.84 seconds separated Stevens and Ithaca for the title. The Duck quartet of Ravi Sun, David Duque, Joshua Lefeber, and Tommy Wolinski set an Empire 8 record in 3:21.22. It also beat the 2014 NCAA Invite Time. Ithaca finished in 3:23.06. Hartwick was third (3:25.82).
