Several Men's Indoor Teams Compete at Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The St. John Fisher College men's track and field team earned more ECAC-qualifying marks at the College at Brockport's Golden Eagle Invite on Saturday.
 
James Felice ran the 1,000 meters in 2:32.17 to place second overall, break the school record and qualify for the ECAC Championship.
 
Brandon Fuentes recorded 13.68 meters in the triple jump to break the school record and also qualify him for ECACs.
 
Evan Magnussen demolished the school record in the 3,000 meters, completing the race in 8:53.54. The senior took fourth overall.
 
Other highlights included Joe D'Agostino placing first in his 60-meter preliminary heat in 7.12 seconds. The junior came back to place fifth overall in the finals at 7.20 seconds. In the field events, Eric Rileyplaced second in the high jump at a height of 1.93 meters.
 
Fisher returns to action at the two-day NYSCTC Championship on Friday at Rochester Institute of Technology.
 
BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Utica College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Golden Eagle Invitational Saturday afternoon at The College at Brockport's Special Events Recreation Center.  This event marks the final indoor contest for the Pioneers before post-season competition kicks off.

Freshman sprinter Nicodemus Gambill (Rochester, NY/East High) led the men's team as he continued his stellar campaign with a victory in the 60 meter dash clocking a time of 7.09.  Gambill teamed up with freshmen Jonathan Ramirez (West New York, NJ/Memorial ) andJames Brown (Wappingers Falls, NY/Beacon ) along with senior Andrew Hoover(Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) for a second place tally in the 4x200 meter relay as the squad registered an ECAC qualifying time of 1:32.28. Ramirez recorded a watch of 23.01 in the 200 meter dash, placing fifth, while Hoover placed sixth in the 60 meter hurdles posting a time of 9.05.

In the field, freshmen jumpers Michael Visco (Amsterdam, NY /Broadalbin-Perth) andJames Brown (Wappingers Falls, NY/Beacon ) had a solid outing as Visco tied the school-record in the long jump clearing 6.76 meters while Brown took third in the high jump with a leap of 1.88 meters. Sophomore standout thrower Sam Kaczmarek (South Windsor, CT/South Windsor ) finished third in the shot put with a toss of 15.09 meters

For the women, junior Sarah Wiatr and Skyler Zawko dominated the triple jump as the duo took first and second place, respectively. Wiatr leaped to an impressive 11.81 meters while Zawko followed in second with a soar of 11.10 meters.

Utica returns to action Friday when it heads to Rochester, NY for the 2015 New York State Collegiate Track Conference Indoor Championships hosted by Rochester Institute of Technology.  The two day event takes place Friday Feb. 27th and Saturday Feb. 28th and will be held at the Gordon Field House.  The events are set to kick off at 3 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
 
BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Alfred University men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed Saturday at the College at Brockport. There were no team scores, but AU came away with a win in the men's 4X400-meter relay.
 
The Saxons' team of freshmen Matt Roder (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park), Jeff Daneault (Natick, MA/Natick), Erik Diehl (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) andSeth Spicer (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) won the 4X400 relay in 3:34.12.
 
Spicer and Daneault placed fifth (9.01 seconds) and eighth (9.17 seconds), respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles; sophomore Jeffrey Nunez (Wurtsboro, NY/Ellenville) was sixth in the weight throw (15.13 meters);  and junior Ian Bishop (Bronx, NY/Bronxwood Prep) was seventh in the shot put (13.95 meters) to help pace the AU men.
 
Other top performers for the Alfred men were: junior Gregory Matos (Bronx, NY/ELLIS Prep), 10th in the 400-meter dash (51.82 seconds); sophomores Kevin Dixon(Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) and Kyle Gallo (Ontario, NY/Wayne) were 15th (9:24.49) and 18th (9:27.49), respectively, in the 3,000-meter run; freshmanAlexander Kenney (Trumansburg, NY/Dickerson), 19th in the 800-meter run (2:06.90); and freshman Matt Roder (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park), 20th in the mile (4:43.33).
 
The team of Matos, senior Sean Locker (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post West), junior Ethan Foster (Bolivar, NY/Bolivar-Richburg) and freshman Chad Pledger (Mallory, NY/Paul V. Moore) was fifth in the 4X200-meter relay in 1:34.75.
 
Sophomore Abby Hampson (Canton, NY/Williams) and freshman Teresa Fallon (New Hyde Park, NY/New Hyde Park) were 11th (1:36.75) and 12th (1:37.32), respectively, in the 500-meter run to help pace the Saxon women's team.
 
Other top performers for the AU women were: senior Corine Pettit (Strykersville, NY/Holland), 22nd in the triple jump (9.92 meters); and sophomore Marissa Colburn(Bridgeport, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse), 31st in the 400-meter dash (1:06.31).
 
The Saxon women's team of Pettit, Colburn, freshman Rachel Houghton (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) and junior Morgan Flick (Honeoye, NY/Honeoye) was fourth in the 4X400-meter relay in 4:34.36).
 
The AU men and women are in action next on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 27 and 28, at the New York State indoor championships in Rochester.
