Houghton Falls in Season-Opening Games
The Houghton College Highlanders were the first Empire 8 school to open their 2015 softball season on Monday. The Highlighters dropped a pair of game at the National Training Center Games in Clermont, Fla.
Hanover 11, Houghton 7
Facing a 4-0 deficit heading into the fourth inning, the Highlanders rallied, scoring seven runs. Hanover took the lead once again in the sixth inning and held on for an 11-7 win.
Lyndon State 9, Houghton 3
Senior Adrean Tiffany led Houghton, going 2-for-4, but Tiffany's performance was not enough to keep up with the Lyndon State's bats.
Houghton continues its spring break games at 9 a.m. Tuesday against Capital University, followed by a rematch against Lyndon State at 11 a.m.
