Sidnam Named USILA Defensive Player of the Week
ROCHESTER, NY -- Junior goalie Scott Sidnam of the nationally-ranked Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team was named the USILA Division III North Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday.
Sidnam, an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American, keyed the Bombers to a 13-10 season opening win over Marywood on Sunday. Sidnam posted 13 saves, one caused turnover and a .565 save percentage in his first start of the season.
In his 2014 season, he made 185 saves in his 20 starts. Sidnam had a goals-against average of 8.29 and a 55.7 save percentage in more than 1,000 minutes in goal in 2014. The goalkeeper also collected 16 groundballs and logged eight games with double-digit save performances in his sophomore season. He was an All-Empire 8 Second Team pick last year.
Ithaca returns to action Saturday at home against Rochester Institute of Technology. That game will begin at noon at Higgins Stadium. RIT is ranked No. 1 in the nation by the USILA and No. 2 by LaxMagazine.com.
