Houghton Falls to Thiel on the Road
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Highlanders jumped out to an early lead, but couldn't hold on in a 21-12 loss to Thiel College on Saturday.
Houghton jumped out to a 4-2 lead over the first eight minutes, but gave up four straight to end the quarter and trailed 6-4 after one. Freshman
Justin Flint (Endicott, NY , Union Endicott High School) scored three first quarter goals.
Sean Daigler (Elma, NY , Iroquois High School) scored to open the second quarter and pull Houghton to within a goal. Thiel scored five of the last seven goals of the half to go ahead 11-7.
Thiel scored five straight to open the third before Daigler scored to close the quarter. Thiel outscored Houghton 5-4 in the fourth quarter.
Flint finished with four goals, while Daigler added three goals and an assist.
Paul Chapman (Kemptville, ON, Canada, North Greenville District High School) finished with two goals.
Josh Haingray (Houghton, NY , Houghton Academy ) allowed 11 goals and made four stops to get the loss.
Jordan Warren (Chambersburg, PA, Ft. Belvoir School for Boys/University of Illinios) played the second half with eight saves and 10 goals allowed.
Houghton is back in action against E8 opponent Ithaca on Saturday, March 7.
