POTSDAM, NY - The Utica College men and women swim and dive teams dropped their final regular season contest Saturday to Clarkson University, on the road, at the Fuller Pool. The men lost, 118-60, and were guided by junior Raphael Warnon (Rock Tavern, NY/Washingtonville)'s record breaking perfromance while the women were downed, 112-57, led by freshman Phoebe King (New Bedford, MA/GNB Voc Tech). Both Warnon and King recorded two victories apiece in the defeat.

Both squads wrap up the regular season with an overall record of 5-8 and will have an 11-day break to prepare for championships. Utica returns to the pool Wednesday Feb. 18th for the opening round of the 2015 UNYSCSA/Empire 8 Championships at the Webster Aquatic Center (Webster, NY). The championships run Wednesday, Feb. 18th through Saturday, Feb 22nd.

Warnon broke the Utica College 100 backstroke school-record (1:03.16) for the short course meter event as he clocked a final time of 1:02.54. He also won the 200 short course meter individual medley with a clock of 2:21.79.

This marks the eighth straight competition that he has recorded a victory in the backstroke event. He concludes the regular season as the team leader in wins (15) and points (135).

Freshman Aaron Gudrian (Windsor, CT/Windsor) continued his stellar first-year performance with another win in the 100 butterfly. Gudrian posted nine points with a final watch of 1:04.48.

King collected 18 points for the women as she won the 50 and 100 short course freestyle events. She registered a watch of 29.24 in the 50 and 1:05.02 in the 100.

Sophomore Mikey Maxwell (Newport, NY/West Canada) took home a victory in the 100 butterfly clocking a time of 1:14.58, grabbing nine points.

Freshmen Krysta Ponek (Panama City Beach, FL/Arnold) andAlyson Baribault (Plantsville, CT/Southington) combined for eight points as they duo secured two second place finishes in their respective events. Ponek posted a time of 5:43.81 in the 400 free while Baribault clocked a time of 1:26.30 in the breaststroke.
