Nazareth Competes at Brockport and Ramapo

ITHACA, N.Y. / BOSTON, Mass. – The Ithaca College women's indoor track & field team competed at its home Ithaca Invitational and at Boston University's Scarlet and White Invitational on Saturday. Both meets were non-scoring.

At Boston, the Bombers met 15 ECAC standards in 10 events and one student-athlete broke a school record.

Junior Alex Rechen broke the school record in the pole vault with a mark of 3.65 meters (11 feet, 11.75 inches) and placed fifth. Rechen broke a five-year record of 3.60 meters set by Kristen DeStefano on Feb. 20, 2010.

Senior Emilia Scheemaker and sophomore Natalie Meyer both placed third in the triple jump and high jump. Scheemaker measured 11.68 meters (38'4") in the triple jump, while Meyer cleared 1.65 meters (5'5") in the high jump.

Senior Leigh Martino took fifth in the 500-meter run and first in her heat with a time of 1:18.61. Sophomore Brandy Smith placed seventh with a mark of 12.41 meters (40' 8.75") in the shot put, while senior Kristina Stockburger took eighth in the weight throw with a toss of 15.49 meters (50' 10").Brandy Smith also set a mark of 14.47 meters (47' 5.75") in the weight throw to meet ECAC standards.

Five Bombers surpassed the ECAC standard in the 1,000-meter run of 3:09.00.  Junior Rachelle Sartoriclocked the top time of 3:04.03 and placed first in her heat, senior Emily Smith finished in 3:04.99, freshman Taryn Cordani crossed in 3:05.34, junior Michaela Cioffredi ran a time of 3:05.38 and juniorAnna Fay rounded out the qualifiers in 3:05.82.

In the 60-meter hurdles, senior Christine Benway crossed the line in 9.42 seconds, while freshmanSophia Feuer competed in the 400-meter dash and ran a time of 59.19 seconds. Senior Alexa Rickcompleted the solid afternoon for Ithaca in the mile with a time of 5:06.10 and placed 10th of 39 runners.

At the Ithaca Invitational, Ithaca posted 18 top eight finishes in 12 events.

The team of freshmen Anissa Ash and Amber Edwards, senior Brittany Greene and sophomore Rose Paskoff recorded a second place showing in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:24.97.

Sophomore Olivia Paolano posted a mark of 10.36 meters in the triple jump for a second place finish, and also took fourth in the pole vault with a cleared height of 2.90 meters.

In the 60-meter dash, Paskoff, Ash and senior Gena Bradshaw placed third through fifth. Paskoff was third in a time of 8.32 seconds, Ash took fourth in 8.40 seconds (8.37 in prelims) and Bradshaw came in fifth in 8.45 seconds (8.41 prelims).

Ash also competed in the 200-meter dash and placed fifth in a time of 27.51 seconds.

Edwards finished the 60-meter hurdles in 9.46 seconds to take third and junior Sydney Glenn placed fourth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:30.73.

Freshman Alexis Kindig finished the 800-meter run in a time of 2:33.76 to take sixth, while freshmanGeorgia Caplen and senior Carolyn Malone came in seventh and eighth, respectively, in the mile. Caplen ran a time of 5:46.50 and Malone crossed in 5:50.33.

In the high jump, senior Alex Lewis cleared 1.45 meters which was good for sixth and sophomore Paige Agnew posted 1.35 meters for eighth. Sophomore Francesca Boylan and Charis Lu also took sixth and eighth in the shot put with marks of 11.34 meters and 10.60 meters.

Sophomore Yvonne Palacios and freshman Caitlin Noonan rounded out the successful day for Ithaca with showings of 13.34 meters and 12.98 meters in the weight throw to take seventh and eighth.

Ithaca competes again next Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Empire 8 Conference Championships hosted by Houghton. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
 
NEW YORK, N.Y. (February 7, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams compiled multiple top-10 finishes Saturday at Ramapo College Indoor Select.
 
The one day event at the N.Y.C. Armory featured over 20 teams competing from Division II and III institutions. The men took home 14th place and the women finished 11th.
 
Junior Katie Moyer, freshman Samantha Rokicsak, sophomore Kaela Earrusso, and junior Amy Regan placed fourth in the women’s distance medley, and qualified for ECACs after clocking a time of 12:33.73, while senior Christine Hecker finished in the top-10 in the 3,000 meter run.
 
Junior Gladys Njoku took first in the high jump after clearing 1.80, tying for the fourth best jump all-time in DIII and setting a new school record. Elsewhere In the field, senior Amira Dardir took 10th in the long jump before sophomore Victoria Taibe took fourth in the weight throw.
 
For the men, senior Thomas Cunningham and junior Zach McKeehan took eighth and ninth place respectively in the mile run, while junior Shane Chiaravalle finished 10th in the 400 meter dash. Sophomore Nicholas Zickgraf ran a personal best 1:57 in the 800, and took first in his heat.
 
Senior Cory Zegel highlighted the men’s efforts in the field with a sixth place finish in the weight throw.
 
Both the men and women will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Houghton College for the Empire 8 Conference Championships.
 
BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Several athletes from Nazareth's men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Brockport Mid-Season Classic on Saturday. Junior Luis Rivera won the weight throw with a school-record mark of 17.69 meters (58 ft., 1/2 in.), and classmate Taylor Pierson won the women's long jump with a mark of 5.56 meters (18 ft., 2 3/4 in.). Additional track and field athletes are also representing Nazareth at the Ramapo Select meet Saturday evening.

In the men's meet at Brockport, Nazareth finished ninth with 23 points. Brockport took first with 140.5 points, followed by Hamilton with 84 points and Fredonia with 75 points.

Junior Khiary Gayle was second in the triple jumpr with a mark of 13.3 meters (43 ft., 7 3/4 in.), and classmate Brandon Vuolo was sixth in the shot put with a mark of 13.59 meters (44 ft., 7 in.). The men's 4x400 relay of Martin Dearaway, Kristopher Newell, Patrick Neureuter, and Kevin Witt was seventh with a time of 3:46.45.

In the women's meet at Brockport, the Golden Flyers were 12th as they tallied 18 points. Brockport was first with 168.5 points. Fredonia and Roberts Wesleyan were second and third with 78 and 60 points, respectively.

Senior Kate Durr was sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.48 meters (4 ft., 10 1/4 in.), and junior Amanda Entress was eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.28 meters (33 ft., 8 3/4 in.). The Golden Flyers' 4x200 team placed fifth on the track.Sibongile Chisi teamed with Alex Walker, Entress, and Sarah Williams to finish in 1:53.58.

At Ramapo, senior Hannah Brackley set the school record in the 400-meter dash with a time of :57.86, which placed her fourth overall. Brackley was 15th in the 200 event with a time of :26.62. Senior Michaela Gildemeyer was sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:20.32, and Kimberly Lovett finished 16th with a time of 2:28.16.

Junior Tom Sippie was second in the 400-meter dash with a time of :48.71, which beat the 2008 school record. Freshman Nick LaBarbera crossed the line in seventh with a time of :50.45. Matt Battaglia's time of 1:58.99 placed him 13th in the 800-meter run.
 
BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The St. John Fisher College women's track and field team placed fourth with 58 points in the Brockport Mid-Season Classic Invite on Saturday.
 
The distance medley relay team of Sarah CoonMorgan MastinSydney Saccone and Katlin Shippy finished in first place with an ECAC-qualifying time of 12:57.85. Shippy's 1600-meter leg of the DMR was 5:20. She then returned and ran 2:26.65 in the 800-meter race to record the second-fastest time in the women's program's short history. Mastin also succeeded in the 60-meter dash with a third-place finish. She shaved off her previous time of 8.14 seconds to record a new time of 8.13 seconds.
 
Taylor Youngkrans continued to succeed in the 20 lb. weight throw, winning with a 15.53-meter toss.
 
In other field events, Paige Willson placed second in the shot put with 12.35 meters. Catherine Wilbur placed in the top-five finishes in the triple jump with 10.45 meters.
 
The Cardinals return to action at the Empire 8 Championship on Saturday at Houghton College.
