Ithaca Rolls Past Salve Regina
TAMPA, Fla. – The Ithaca College men's lacrosse team, ranked 12th in the latest USILA Division III Poll, returned to the win column with an 18-3 victory over Salve Regina in a neutral-site game at the University of Tampa on Thursday night.
Ithaca outscored the Seahawks 11-0 in the second and third quarters and went on to the one-sided victory. Nine different players scored at least one goal for the Bombers and five of those players had multiple goals.
Jack Shumway led Ithaca with four goals and an assist.
John Januszkiewicz had three goals and two assists and
James Manilla had three goals and one assist.
Jordan Brett and
Steve Danylyshyn each scored twice. Other Ithaca goal scorers were
Matt Greenblatt,
Justin Bird,
Austin Smith and
Jack Isaf. Bird, Smith, and
Stephen Morrell each had one assist.
Three goalkeepers saw action for the Bombers.
Scott Sidnam played the first three quarters and made six saves and allowed just two goals.
Jack Deragon had two saves and
Justin Isaacs had one save in sharing the goalkeeping duties for the fourth quarter.
The Bombers outshot Salve Regina 51-27. Ithaca had 47 ground balls and won 17 of 25 faceoffs.
Ithaca is 4-2 overall, and 4-1 against NCAA Division III opposition this season. Salve Regina is 0-2. In Ithaca's last three victories, the Bombers have outscored their opponents 59-12.
Ithaca returns to action Tuesday at home with a 4 p.m. game against Oneonta.
