Nazareth downs Ursinus to improve to 3-0

CLERMONT, Fla. --

Kate Rothrock each scored two goals Thursday as Nazareth won a non-conference game in women's lacrosse with a 10-7 win over Ursinus in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
Nazareth, which its second straight spring break win, remained unbeaten at 3-0. Ursinus is 0-4 with its losses by a total of eight goals.

Haley DeVona added one goal and two assists and senior goalie
Ashley Kirch made nine saves. Senior
Brooke Sullivan had one goal and one assist and
Bri Mancini,
Suzie Gray,
Heather Groot and Hayley Splojaric also scored goals.
The game was tied at 2-2, then Nazareth scored seven straight goals, including four over the last eight minutes of the first half, to surge to a 9-2 lead. Gates scored twice in a 13-second span to give Nazareth the lead for good at 4-2. Spoljaric scored with 2:44 left in the half and Groot scored with just :04 left to make the score 6-2 at halftime.
Nazareth's momentum carried over to the second half as Sullivan, Rothrock and Mancini scored to extend Nazareth's lead to 9-2.
Ursinus closed the game by scoring five of the last six goals, but DeVona interrupted the string with a free-position goal with 16:52 to go.
Nazareth had a 30-19 advantage in shots and a 17-11 edge in ground balls. Sullivan had four ground balls and senior
MacKenzie Haley had three draw controls.
The Golden Flyers return to upstate New York Tuesday to play at RIT in a non-conference game at 4 p.m.
