Day 1 Recap of Men's NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships

Four Empire 8 men's athletes competed on Wednesday on the opening day of the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at Conroe ISD Natatorium.
Stevens Institute of Technology junior Ravi Sun opened his run in the 200-yard individual medley. In that event, the veteran All-American clocked a 1:51.59 which was good for a new personal-best time. He placed 17th overall, missing out on honorable mention All-America honors by one spot.
Hartwick junior Ben Detar placed 36th in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:54.88.
Hartwick senior Miles Blaney finished 27th in the 500 freestyle event. His preliminary round time was 4:34.84. Blaney earned honorable mention All-America honors in the event his freshman year after finishing 16th. He is making his third appearance at the championships.
Alfred senior David Luke swam to a 27- place finish in the 50-yard freestyle in this morning's preliminary heats. He finished his heat in 20.71 seconds.
