Accolades on Day Two
On the second day of competition at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships in Shenandoah, TX, Hartwick senior Miles Blaney finished ninth overall in the 200 freestyle. He took 16
th in the prelims and then won the 'B' finals earning honorable mention All-America accolades.
Blaney now has achieved the distinction for the second time in individual events at the NCAA Championships. He was also an honorable mention All-American in the 500 freestyle as a freshman. He combined for the same status three times in the 800 free relay and once in the 400 free relay in his first two seasons as a Hawk.
Blaney's time in the finals of 1:38.54 broke his own Hartwick College record which he set in the prelims. It also broke the all-time Empire 8 Conference mark of 1:38.92.
Ithaca seniors
Lucas Zelehowsky and
Matt Morrison earned All-America recognition on the second day of competition.
Morrison earned the fifth All-America honor of his career with a score of 481.15 in the 1-meter diving preliminaries. His point total secured him a spot in the championship final, where he recorded a score of 517.75. Morrison's effort placed him fourth overall.
Zelehowsky finished the morning session with a time of 48.83 in the 100-yard butterfly, giving him a spot in the event's consolation final. Zelehowsky placed seventh in the consolation final with a time of 49.43, earning him All-America Honorable Mention. Zelehowsky's All-America selection marked the first of his collegiate career.
Hartwick unior Ben Detar also competed in individual events at the championships Thursday. Detar placed 45
th in the men's 100 butterfly with a time of 51.14.
