Fisher, Ithaca, Stevens all make NCAA field

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Empire 8 Conference champion St. John Fisher has been joined in the 64-team NCAA women's basketball tournament by at-large selections Ithaca and Stevens.
Fisher (21-6) earned the league's automatic bid after winning an 86-84 overtime thriller over Ithaca in Saturday's conference title game. The Cardinals will travel to Tufts University in Medford, Mass. to play Skidmore (17-10) in a first-round match-up Friday. Tufts and Pine Manor play in the other game with the winners meeting Saturday for the right to advance to the tournament's Sweet 16. The Cardinals are making their 15th trip to the national tournament.

Ithaca (22-5) gained an at-large bid after winning the E8 regular-season title. The Bombers will travel to Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine to play Mt. St. Vincent (22-5) in a first-round game Friday. Bowdoin hosts Babson in the other game with the winners playing Saturday. The Bombers are making their 12th NCAA appearance and 11th in the last 15 seasons.

Stevens (22-4) was rewarded for its strong season with a trip to Scranton, Pa. to play Baruch (24-4) Friday. Scranton and Eastern Connecticut State play in the other game with the winners sqaring off Saturday. The Ducks are making their third NCAA appearance and first since 2011.
