Stevens 3-1 After 11-5 Win at Stockton

GALLOWAY, N.J. (March 19, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team improved to 3-1 with an 11-5 win over Richard Stockton Thursday night.
Stevens opened the game with the first nine goals, taking a huge advantage with 18:54 left in regulation after a score from sophomore midfielder
Kathleen Kalbian.

Erika Wilcox gave the Ducks a 2-0 lead 9:52 into the game with her second goal, scoring unassisted. Freshman attack
Cami Santor notched a pair to give Stevens a 4-0 lead late in the first as senior attack
Caitlyn Hughes and Kalbian sent the Ducks into the break with a 7-0 lead.
Wilcox opened the scoring in the second, with Kalbian putting the exclamation mark on a 9-0 Stevens lead.
Stockton made a game of it with a 4-0 run, but a Wilcox marker at 11:13 halted the momentum and Stevens comfortably earned the road win. Sophomore attack
Laura Roberts accounted for the final Stevens score of the day, taking a Wilcox helper in for the score.
Wilcox led the Ducks with eight points on the back of five goals and three assists. She has now scored 10 times in the Ducks' last two games. Kalbian scored twice, adding five draw controls and three ground balls to her line, and senior defender
Amanda Ingersoll had three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Freshman midfielder
Julianna Ricci added two ground balls and two draw controls for the Ducks, as freshman goalie
Stephanie Schnelzer made four saves between the pipes to earn the win.
The Ducks ended with a 19-14 margin in shots and were 15-for-17 on clears. Stevens put 17 shots on goal and held a 17-14 edge in ground balls. The Ducks were 10-for-18 on draw controls.
Stevens will return to action Sunday when it hosts Hartwick at 3 p.m. It will be the first Empire 8 game for the Ducks in 2015.
