National Champ! Brittany Geyer Wins 100-Breaststroke

SHENANDOAH, Texas – Senior Brittany Geyer of the Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming team placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke at the 2015 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships.
 
Her time of 1:02.24 was .27 seconds better than second place competitor and her time was .03 seconds better than last year. With the victory, she has also earned the team 20 points in the standings.

Geyer headed to the evening session seeded third after clocking a 1:03.26 in the prelims.  The veteran was just .17 off her school-record time from 2013 and just .47 off the best time in the prelims.

It is her second national title after claiming the 200-yard breaststroke during her freshman campaign. She is also the second person in Stevens athletics history with two national titles as Laura Barito recorded two in 2010.

Hartwick's 800 free relay team, which consists of junior Imma Rutigliano, seniors Kaitlyn Campbell, Gwen Mathias and sophomore Rachael Bellis, finished ninth to secure honorable mention All-America status. 
           
The Hawks, who are also the state and Empire 8 champs in the event, swam to a time of 7:40.97.
 
Stevens freshman Sarah Jurczyk, placed 28th in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:07.78. That finish was nearly a full second better than her personal-best-performance at the Empire 8 Championships in late February.

Ithaca sophomore Nickie Griesemer and freshman Anna Belson concluded their time at the NCAA DIII Swimming & Diving Championships on Friday, as both Bombers competed in 1-meter diving.

Griesemer recorded a score of 347.70 in the preliminaries, while Belson registered a point total of 315.65 in the morning session. Griesemer's score ranked 21st and Belson's placed her 24th in the preliminaries.
