Ducks Fall To St. Lawrence

ORLANDO, Fla. (March
19, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team dropped their second straight game of their Florida spring break trip Thursday, 9-0 to No. 37 St. Lawrence University.
 
The loss dropped Stevens to 11-3 overall while St. Lawrence moved to 9-2.
 
Senior Jessica Bourque and junior Alexis Connor found themselves in a tight battle at first doubles before the duo ultimately fell 8-6. St. Lawrence grabbed the final two points in doubles as well with an 8-2 win at No. 2 over senior Danielle Stewart and freshman Katrina Guido, and an 8-4 win at No. 3 over junior Julia Guignard and sophomore Allie Masciana.
 
St. Lawrence continued its winning ways in singles with six consecutive wins to close out the match. Bourque again found herself in a tight battle at No. 1 before Elkie Vandenbeemt eventually prevailed with a 6-3, 6-2 win. Connor narrowly missed a win in her first set at No. 4, and Stewart fought back in her second set before losing 6-1, 6-4.
 
The Ducks will continue their Florida trip Saturday with a 9 a.m. match against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
