IC Teams Support Special Olympics & Relay For Life
ITHACA, N.Y. – Members of Ithaca College athletic teams gave back to the local community this past weekend by participating in Relay for Life at Glazer Arena and the second annual Polar Plunge at Taughannock Falls State Park. Both events took place on Saturday, March 21.
Student-athletes from many athletic teams including field hockey, women's golf, women's soccer and women's volleyball among others plunged into Cayuga Lake on Saturday at 1 p.m., raising $700 for the Ithaca Special Olympics. Approximately 40 Ithaca College athletes participated in the fundraising plunge.
Relay for Life, an event with hundreds of participants each year that aims to celebrate, remember, and fight back against cancer took place at the Ithaca College Athletics & Events Center from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday. The 12-hour event raised over $40,000 towards cancer research. Many individuals from
local and student organizations and student-athletes across numerous athletics teams participated in the event by walking laps around the Glazer Arena indoor track.
