Four Fisher SAAC Members Prepare Breakfast At Ronald McDonald House
Four members of the St. John Fisher College Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) spent their Tuesday morning making breakfast for a good cause.
Danielle Famolaro,
Stacie Skidmore and
Alexis Zakala of the field hockey team and
Claire Walsh of the women's basketball team prepared a pancake breakfast for guests of the Rochester Ronald McDonald House. The entire SAAC committee, consisting of representatives from each of the 23 sports, contributed monetary donations to cover the cost of food and with assistance from Krissy Wolcott, Associate Track and Field/Cross Country Coach, athletes made pancakes, eggs and other pastries for the meal. Last year, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester, NY, supported more than 900 families and children, all because of donations from donors and volunteers. The House provides a haven for families traveling to Rochester for their child's specialized medical care. Today's breakfast served the current 35 guests at the Ronald McDonald House.
The Empire 8 Athletic Conference also took part in an initiative for Ronald McDonald House Charities by collecting pop tabs. The Pop Tab Program allows the tabs to be redeemed for cash at Metalico, a local recycling partner. St. John Fisher's SAAC committee continues to collect the pop tabs throughout the academic year for Ronald McDonald House.
