The St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team is ranked 17th in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll. 

The Cardinal's won its Empire 8 Conference season opener on Saturday, as the Cardinals pushed their winning streak to five games with a 13-6 victory over visiting Ithaca College.

Saturday's game was a rematch of each of the last three Empire 8 Conference Championships – all of which were won by Fisher – but it's the first time the Cardinals have beaten Ithaca in the regular-season since 2009.  

With the win,  Fisher improved to 5-1 overall.

Fisher returns to action at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24 and will host SUNY Fredonia.
