ATLANTA, Ga. -- Nazareth's men's track and field team opened their 2015 outdoor season in record-breaking fashion Friday as the Golden Flyers competed in the first day of the Emory Classic.

Junior thrower Luis Rivera picked up where he left off during the indoor season as he broke his own school record in the hammer throw with a heave of 51.57 meters (169 feet, 2 inches) to finish in third place. He soared nearly three feet beyond his previous mark set late last season.

Freshman Kevin Witt finished seventh in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:22.45.
