Men’s Golf Completes First Day of the McDaniel College Spring Invitational
Day One Results
Abbottstown, PA -- The Empire 8 has four men's golf teams taking part in the McDaniel College Spring Invitiational. At the end of day one the St. John Fisher College men's golf team is leading the way with a total of 315 for 31-over par.
The annual two day, 18 team competition is being played at the par-72 The Bridges Golf Club. Players battled windy and chilly conditions today, leading to higher than usual scores across the board.
Fisher's Corey Haas is leading all golfers, shooting 75 for 3-over par. The junior recorded two birdies on the day.
Christopher Salone is among six participants tied for 12th place at 8-over par.
Chris Blyth and
Karl Deuble are close behind at 9-over par, tied for 18th place.
Devin Solar wraps up Fisher's scoring at 11-over par for 35th.
The Stevens Institute of Technology men's golf team is in a tie for 12
th place after shooting a 344 Saturday.
Freshman
Austin Binder paced the Ducks with an 83 while senior
Cameron Hill shot an 86 to finish second on the team. The scores were good for a tie at 34
th and a tie at 48
th place respectively for the Stevens rookie and veteran duo.
Sophomore
Frank Szucs shot an 87, and senior
Justin Niemeier shot an 88.
The Elmira College men's golf team finished the first day of the McDaniel College Spring Invitational tied for 14th with a team score of 346.
Brandon Payne '17 led the Soaring Eagles tied for 18th with a score of 81 today.
Niall O'Connor '15 checked in tied for 36th with a score of 83 while
Dan Gridley '18 followed with a 90 to place 74th.
Troy Gordon '15 finished tied for 82nd with a 92 while
Brian Demo '17 completed the day with a 94 to tie for 86th.
Nazareth finished the first day with a 353 total.
The teams return to the green at 11 a.m. Sunday to complete the invitational.
