ALFRED Meet Results
CHESTER, PA – The Alfred University men's track and field team opened its 2015 outdoor season Saturday at Widener University's Danny Curran Invitational.
There were no team scores, but several Saxon men turned in top-10 finishes, led by junior
Ian Bishop (Bronx, NY/Bronxwood Prep) in the shot put. Bishop took third in the event with a heave of 14.18 meters.
Also turning in top-10 performances for the Saxons were: sophomore
Jeffrey Nunez (Wurtsboro, NY/Ellenville), seventh in the hammer throw (46.02 meters); freshman
Kyle Gallo (Ontario, NY/Wayne), seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:23.27); freshman
Jeff Daneault (Natick, MA/Natick), eighth in the 400-meter hurdles (58.96); sophomore
Kevin Dixon (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen), eighth in the 10,000-meter run (33:08.72); and senior
Mykel Ferguson (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia), 10
th in the high jump (1.72 meters).
Nunez also took 13
th in the discus (38.25 meters) and freshman
Seth Spicer (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) was 13
th in the long jump (5.71 meters).
The team of Spicer and freshman
Matthew Derse (Ontario, NY/Wayne),
Tyler Brion (Wellsville, NY/Wellsville) and
Jackson Dwyer (Quechee, VT/Hartford) were 10
th in the 4X100-meter relay (46.20).
NAZARETH Results
ATLANTA, Ga. -- Nazareth's men's track and field team was in action for the second day at the Emory Classic. After breaking two records on Friday, junior
Brandon Vuolo edged classmate
Luis Rivera's record in the shot put with a mark of 13.55 meters (44 ft., 5 1/2 in.). Vuolo placed sixth in the event. Rivera's previous record was 13.52 meters (44 ft., 4 1/4 in.).
The Golden Flyers placed 10th with 22 points. Emory claimed first with 149 points. Marian and Taylor finished second and third with 128.5 points and 82 points, respectively.
In addition to Vuolo's performance in the shot put, he was 16th in the discus with a throw of 39.56 meters (129 ft., 9 in.). He just missed breaking the school record, which is 39.81 meters (130 ft., 7 in.). Rivera also competed and finished 20th with a mark of 35.87 meters (117 ft., 8 in.). Junior
Khiary Gayle claimed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.24 meters (43 ft., 5 1/4 in.). He holds the school record at 13.57 meters (44 ft., 6 1/4 in.).
Freshman
Nick LaBarbera placed third in the 400-meter dash with a time of :50.31. Junior
Tom Sippie also competed in the event. He was 27th with a time of :53.55. Sippie is recovery from an injury he suffered during the indoor season. In the 200 event, LaBarbera was 16th with a time of :23.96.
In the 800-meter run, sophomore
Matt Battaglia was 20th with a time of 2:04.6, and freshman
Martin Dearaway was 32nd with a time of 2:11.06. Battaglia was 25th overall in the 1,500-meter run. His time was 4:18.99. Freshman
Kevin Witt was 33rd overall in the event with a time of 4:24.95.
STEVENS FULL RESULTS
OCEANPORT, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's outdoor track and field team opened their outdoor campaign at the Monmouth University Invitational on Saturday.
On the men's side, senior
Robert Pinto placed sixth in the high jump. Sophomore
Neil Forrester reached the finals of the discus, while freshman
Tanner Lyons and senior
Benny Scotto each made the finals of the javelin placing eighth and ninth respectively. Senior
Cory Zegel set a personal record in the hammer throw, tossing 44.55-meters while Forrester threw 38.42m.
Louis Stengel placed 29 in the 1,500, placing better than a host of Division I competitors. Junior
Shane Chiaravalle finished 14 in the 400-meter and the men's "A" team 4X4 relay team finished fifth, knocking off Marist, Monmouth and NJIT.
