Snow Cancels More Baseball, Fisher Dropped by Neumann

Snow continues to wreak havoc in the northeast and on the schedules of four Empire 8 schools, while a fifth has benefitted from a trip to Florida.

Utica

The Utica College baseball team had its Sunday season-opener at Ramapo College cancelled due to inclement weather conditions. The Pioneers will kick off their 2015 season in Winter Haven, Fla. at the Russ Matt Invitational over Spring break.

UC will take the diamond on Monday, March 16 against Lesley University.  First pitch of the twin bill will be at 10 a.m. at Henley Field.

Elmira

The Elmira College baseball double header versus Bard College this Saturday, March 7 has been cancelled due to inclement weather.

The EC men are now set to compete in their season opener on March 14 at the City College of New York. The game is set to begin 12:00 p.m.

Houghton

Houghton College has announced that the baseball doubleheader vs. Medaille College originally slated for this week has been re-scheduled for Wednesday, March 18.

Game one will start at 3 p.m.

Stevens

The Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team was forced to make numerous changes to its schedule. Yesterday’s game vs. Old Westbury has been moved to March 13 and Friday’s contest at Kean will now take place on March 30. The single game at Christopher Newport on March 15 is now a doubleheader. And the shortened Eastern Connecticut game is now slated for April 1, and will be a doubleheader with Trinity.

St. John Fisher

The lone conference team to play on March 5, St. John Fisher, lost to Neumann, 6-5, in Florida. Fisher led by a score of 3-0 after one inning of play, but would fall behind, 4-3, by the sixth inning. The Cardinals plated two runs in the seventh to regain the lead, only to allow two more in the top of the eighth for the eventual final outcome.
