Pine Valley, NY --
The Elmira College men's tennis team fell in their home opener to NCAA Division II member, Roberts Wesleyan, 9-0.  With the loss, Elmira drops to 0-2 on the season while the Redhawks improve to 3-1.

The Redhawks got out to a fast start, sweeping the doubles matches to take an early 3-0 lead.  However, Elmira's first doubles tandem of Keith Bujak '15 and Satchal Waters '15 made things interesting, falling to Roberts by a single-break, 8-5.

Elmira looked to turn things around in the singles matches, but the Redhaws proved to be too much as they claimed all six singles matches in straight sets.  There were however several bright spots in the singles matches, specifically at second and fourth singles, as Waters and first-year netter Chris Konow '18 put up good fights.

After dropping the first set 6-1, Waters battled back in the second, nearly forcing a third but a late break put an end to the comeback, as he fell 6-4. Konow on the other hand showed good promise in his first dual match of the spring season, dropping a tight first set at 6-4 before falling in the second, 6-1.

The Elmira men will be back in action on Sunday, March 1st when the Soaring Eagles travel to Erie, PA to take on non-conference opponent Penn State-Behrend.  Match-time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
