Ithaca Men's Tennis Beats St. Lawrence 6-3

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Ithaca College men's tennis team won two of three doubles matches and four of six singles matches in a 6-3 victory over visiting St. Lawrence on Saturday at Glazer Arena. It was the first victory of the season for Ithaca and in the process they handed the Saints their first loss of the year.

The top four in the Ithaca lineup led the way as each was victorious in doubles and singles. Chris Hayes and Lorenzo Viguie-Ramos got Ithaca on the board with an 8-5 win at second doubles. Wes Davis and Jack Melhorn pulled out a 9-7 win at first doubles to give Ithaca a 2-1 lead after the doubles matches. Melhorn extended Ithaca's advantage with a 6-1, 6-1 win at first singles and was followed off the court by Hayes who closed out the third singles match by scores of 6-0, 6-3. The decisive match point came from Davis at fourth singles. He won 6-4, 6-2. Viguie-Ramos won in three sets at second singles.

Ithaca returns to action on its spring trip to South Carolina.
