NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Utica College men's and women's track and field team competed Friday afternoon at day one of the 2015 East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Armory Track's New Balance Track & Field Center.  

Junior Sarah Wiatr led the Pioneer women on day one with an impressive victory in the triple jump. Wiatr leaped 11.68 meters en route to her championship win in the triple and awaits the conclusion of the indoor season for the national qualification mark.

Junior Ashton Villeneuve posted her best time of the season in the 5,000 as she clocked a watch 18:29.88, placing 10thoverall.

The UC men's distance medley squad consisting of junior Corey Zlatniski (Mattituck, NY/Mattituck), freshman Jonathan Vega, Patrick Claffey (Burlington, CT/Lewis Mills) and junior Kyle Cairns (Midland Park, NJ/Midland ) shattered a new school-record as the team grabbed one point for UC.  The four man team finished in eighth place as they etched a time of 10:25.13 into the record books.

The Pioneers are right back in action Saturday for day two of the ECAC Championships.  The events are set to kick off at 10 a.m. Saturday morning.
 
NEW YORK, N.Y. The Stevens Institute of Technology men's and women's indoor track and field teams participated in the ECAC Indoor Championships on Friday.
                                
The women's distance medley team set a school record with a time of 12:18, which was good enough for a sixth place finish. This time was the best in regards to the Empire 8 schools that participated. Junior Kate Moyer led the off with a split time of 3:49.5, followed by freshmanSamantha Rokicsak running the 400 in 1:05.5. Sophomore Kaela Earrusso contributed on the third leg with an 800-meter time of 2:25.5 and junior Amy Regan ran the 1600 in 4:57.5. Regan will be running the one mile event tomorrow.
 
Freshman Katie Weeks participated in the shot put, recording a throw of 11.46 meters. SophomoreDaniel Jacome also threw in the shot put on the men's side, with a toss of 12.91 meters.
 
Day two of the ECAC Indoor Championships for both the men and women will begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
 
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's track & field team completed the first day of the ECAC Indoor Championships on Friday at the NYC Armory. Ithaca scored team points in two events so far in the championship.

Senior Rashaad Barrett qualified for the finals of the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.99 seconds to place him sixth overall.

Ithaca's 4x200-meter relay team took second overall in a time of 1:29.49. The 4x200 team consisted of Barrett, juniors Aaron Matthias and Jordan Smith, and senior Kyle Mackinnon. Eight team points were acquired in the event for the Bombers.

Junior Stephen Gomez took fourth in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:01.80 to account for five team points. Gomez's time on Friday was 20 seconds faster that his best ECAC-qualifying mark.

The Bombers are currently sixth place of 32 team with 13 points after the first day. Brockport is leading the meet with 25.5 points.

Tomorrow's events will begin at 10 a.m.

NEW YORK, N.Y.  - Members of the St. John Fisher College track and field teams completed day 1 of the ECAC Championship Friday, held at the Armory Track and Field Complex in New York City.
 
On the women's side, Paige Wilson broke her own shot put record to finish third overall with a throw of 13.19 meters, just .06 meters out of second place.
 
Sammy VanGee came up in a big way for Fisher, scoring the first-ever points by a distance athlete with an 8th place finish in the 5000 in a time of 18:25.53, breaking the school record which she set last week.
 
In the Distance Medley Relay, Sarah CoonSydney SacconeRonni Ehlers and Kaitlin Shippy clocked a 12:39.30 to finish 13th, breaking the school record on the way.  Shippy ran the anchor leg in a PR time of 5:16.38.
 
Brandon Fuentes jumped to a 12th place finish in the triple jump at 13.53 meters.
 
Day 2 of the ECAC championship will resume Saturday.
