School Records Fall For Men's Indoor Teams At ECACs

NEW YORK, N.Y. (March 7, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's indoor track and field team saw several school records broken at the ECAC Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday.
 
Sophomore Nicholas Zickgraf finished second overall in the one mile run, a mere .05 seconds behind Peter Tuohy of Ramapo College. With his time of 4:15.11, Zickgraf set a new school record. Senior Robert Pinto finished in fifth place in high jump with a leap of 2.02 meters, which was better than any other Empire 8 athlete in the field.
 
Senior Thomas Cunningham placed fifth in the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:37.38. This time represented a personal best by 12 seconds and also broke the school record held by Michael Cahill by five seconds.
 
Stevens will wait and see if anyone will be competing in the NCAA Division III National Championships next weekend in Winston-Salem, N.C.
 
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's track & field team accumulated 34 points at the ECAC Indoor Championships at the New York Armory on Saturday to finish in a tie for sixth. It is Ithaca's best finish since the 2010-11 team took fifth.

The Bombers tied Worcester Polytechnic Institute for sixth, and were separated by just eight points from the ECAC Champions, Amherst. Brockport and Cortland tied for seconds at 41.5 points, Salisbury totaled 38 for fourth and Bates took fifth with 37 points.

Senior Rashaad Barrett finished fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.98 seconds, .01 faster than his preliminary time.  Sophomore Sean Phillips came in fourth in the mile run, crossing the line in a time of 4:18.83.

Junior Aaron Matthias took fifth for Ithaca in the 200-meter dash in 22.16 seconds, just missing a school record by .07 seconds. Senior Dennis Ryan was another fifth place finisher for the Bombers with a time of 2:31.09 in the 1,000-meter run.

Freshman Gerardo Munoz clocked a time of 1:06.41 seconds in the 500-meter dash to finish seventh overall.

Junior Andrew Brandt rounded out Ithaca's top performers with an eighth place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.97 meters.

The NCAA will release its national qualifiers on Monday, March 9.
 
NEW YORK, NY – The Utica College men's and women's track and field team wrapped up the 2015 East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday at the Armory Track's New Balance Track & Field Center.  The women placed 22nd out of 60 teams while the men finished 48th out of the 55 team field.

Senior thrower Bria Hilliard led the UC women with a new school-record in the weight throw with a toss of 15.83 meters.  Hiliard placed fourth overall out of 40.

Junior Corey Zlatniski (Mattituck, NY/Mattituck) led the men's squad as he broke his own school-record in the 800 meter run with a clock of 1:54.55.  Zlatniski placed seventh out of 15 while grabbing two points.

UC now awaits the conclusion of the indoor season for the final NCAA qualifying marks. The NCAA Division III Indoor Championships are set for Friday Mar. 13th and Saturday Mar. 14th in Winston-Salem, NC. Roanoke College will host the championships at the C. Homer Bast Center at Kerr Stadium.
 
NEW YORK, NY – The St. John Fisher College men's indoor track and field team completed its best finish at ECACs, compiling 10 points for a 26th place finish at The Armory Track and Field Complex in New York City.
 
Mark VanMarter continued his stellar freshman campaign, earning a second place finish (8 points) in the long jump, breaking the school record with a leap of 7.15 meters.  That mark currently puts him tied for ninth in the nation among all Division III athletes.
 
Joe D'Agostino picked up the other two points for Fisher breaking his own school record in the 200 to finish seventh overall with a time of 22.28.
 
James Felice finished 10th in the 1000 meter run in a time of 2:33.22.
 
In other field action Eric Riley notched a ninth place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.97 meters.
 
Devin Cornelius (heptathlon) and VanMarter (long jump) will wait until Monday to see if they have qualified for the National Chamiponships in Winston Salem, NC on March 13-14.
