#1 Tufts Tops Stevens
HOBOKEN, N.J. (March 7, 2015) – Despite multi-goal games from four different players, the Stevens Institute of Technology men's lacrosse game dropped a Saturday showdown to No. 1 Tufts University, 19-10 in Hoboken.
The loss dropped Stevens to 2-3 while Tufts moved to 3-0.

Michael Maroon, junior
Andrew Scrutchfield, junior
Matt Ferentini, and junior
Anthony Raposo each had two goals and an assist while junior
Austin Boyd made 14 saves in net.
As a team, the Ducks out-shot Tufts 55-52, including a 22-6 margin in the fourth quarter, and scooped-up seven more groundballs.
The Jumbos came out strong with three goals over the first three minutes before adding their seventh with just over five minutes to go in the first quarter. The Ducks battled back during the two minute mark when sophomore
Connor McKeon found Maroon for the score to send the Ducks into the second with some momentum.
After two more goals from Tufts put Stevens down 9-1, the Ducks answered with two off goals from Scrutchfield and Maroon. Both scores were man-up goals, cutting the deficit to six with six minutes to go in the half. Tufts came back with three goals, but a score from Ferentini in the closing seconds of the half sent the Ducks into the break trailing 12-4.
Tufts came out of the break with three goals over the first three minutes before the Ducks answered with Scrutchfield's score during the seven minute mark. Three more goals from Tufts built the deficit to 12 to end the third before two more to start the fourth put the Jumbos up 19-5.
The Ducks refused to go down quietly though, closing the game with five unanswered goals. Raposo started the scoring barrage with a goal during the six minute mark followed by junior
Colin Sawula's unassisted score one minute later. Ferentini continued the run with a goal with under four minutes on the clock before sophomore
Ryan Giordano scored off a pass from Raposo.
Stevens capped the run with Raposo's unassisted score with under three minutes to go.
The Ducks will return to action on March 18 when they travel to Virginia Beach to take on Bowdoin College. Game time is still yet to be determined.
