ALFRED, NY — Dalton Walsh (Stockton, NY/Cassadaga Valley), a senior forward on the Alfred University men's basketball team, is up for consideration to play in a Division III senior all-star game.

Fan voting will determine the final two spots on teams that will compete in the 2015 Reese's NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches) Division III All-Star Game, which will be played on March 21 in Salem, VA, prior to the NCAA Division III championship game.

Fans will be able to choose from a list of the top senior student-athlete in each of the eight Division III regions in D3hoops.com whose team is no longer participating in the NCAA Tournament. The two top vote-getters will join 16 other seniors, two from each region, who were selected by a committee vote, for a total of nine student-athletes per side.

Fan voting for the two positions that will be determined by fans is open from noon Monday, March 9, and will close at noon on Wednesday, March 11.

Walsh enjoyed one of the best seasons for an AU post player in years, nearly averaging a double-double. His 15.9 points per game ranked fourth in the Empire 8 Conference, while his 9.1 rebounds were seventh, his 2.0 blocks per game second, and his 44.9 percent shooting ninth. He was named a First Team Empire 8 all-star, marking the first time in 10 years AU has had a First Team all-conference selection in men's basketball.

He led the Saxons to a second-place finish in the Empire 8 Conference standings (11-5 league mark) and a second straight berth in the conference championship tournament. The Saxons would fall to top-seeded St. John Fisher in the tournament championship to finish the year with a 19-8 record. The 19 tied with the 1988-89 squad for the third-most in team history, and the 11 conference wins are the most ever for a Saxon team.
