HOBOKEN, N.J. (February
11, 2015) – Junior Amy Regan of the Stevens Institute of Technology women's cross country and track and field teams was named the United States Track & Field and Cross County Coaches Association Division III Scholar Athlete of the Year, it was announced Wednesday morning.

A junior engineering management major, Regan maintains a 4.0 GPA and is the first runner from Stevens to take-home this award.

"Amy is a true Stevens Scholar-Athlete, and her accomplishments this fall reinforce that our athletes can be successful at the highest levels, both academically and athletically." head coach Justin Wood said. "She completed an undefeated cross country season including winning the 2014 NCAA DIII National Championship and followed that up with a perfect 4.0 GPA for the fall."

In November, Regan not only became the only Stevens runner to win a national title, but she became the first ever collegiate runner in the state of New Jersey to win a men's or women's cross country national championship. Regan won the race by six seconds, separating herself from the field on the final hill of the event.

Regan took first in all eight races that she participated in this fall including the Empire 8 Conference Championship where she became the first three-time winner in conference history.  Her time of 17:03 was the best ever recorded at the meet, and was 1:06 faster than her race as a freshman.

Regan breezed through the rest of the meets that she participated in, finishing No. 1 every time, including the Atlantic Region Championship. She was named USTFCCCA Women's National Athlete of Year, and is also a nominee for the DIII Honda Athlete of the Year, one of only eleven women student-athletes across Division III.

In 2013, Regan became the first cross country All-American in school history. She was also named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team for both the 2012 and 2013 seasons. During the 2012 season, Regan was the first runner in Stevens history to receive all-region recognition, be named Empire 8 Conference Runner of the Year along with Rookie of the Year, and win the individual title at the E8 Championship.
