ITHACA v Cortland
The Ithaca College softball team dropped a pair of games to Cortland Wednesday evening. The Bombers fell to Cortland in extra innings by a score of 1-0 in game one, before being outscored 4-3 in the second contest. The games were played at Cornell University at Niemand*Robison Field, with Cortland serving as the home team. Ithaca's overall record now sits at 2-8 on the season. Cortland moves to 8-6.

Game 1: Cortland – 1, Ithaca – 0 (10 Innings)
Junior Laura Quicker pitched all 9.1 innings in the first game of the day. She allowed just one earned run on five hits, while also recording three strikeouts. Sophomore Jessie Fleck paced the Bombers with three hits in four at-bats. Freshman Emily Bloom also recorded multiple hits, going 2-for-4 at the plate with two singles.

A true pitcher's duel carried a scoreless tilt into extra innings, as neither team was able to generate a run in the standard seven innings of play.

After a pair of scoreless extra innings, the international tiebreaker was implemented in the top of the tenth. Senior Nina Lindberg was placed on second base to start the frame, eventually moving to third on a bunt single from Fleck. Although Fleck was able to move to second on the next play, the Bombers were unable to capitalize in the top of the inning.

After a Cortland runner was placed on second to start the bottom of the tenth, a walk and a groundout would bring two Red Dragons in scoring position. A Cortland infield single in the next at-bat brought home the runner at third, giving the Red Dragons a 1-0 walk-off victory.

Game 2: Cortland – 4, Ithaca – 3
Junior Allison Macari was credited with the loss in game two. She allowed three earned runs and struck out four in 5.0 innings of work. Quicker also saw time in game two, holding the Red Dragons hitless over one inning. Junior Casey Gavin was a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and a RBI. Junior Kelly Robichaud and Bloom both picked up multiple hits, going 2-for-4 and 2-for-3, respectively.

Cortland got on the board first in game two, scoring the opening run in the first inning on a hit and an Ithaca error.

The Bombers responded with their first run of the day, evening the contest at 1-1 in the top of the second. With runners at the corners and one out, senior Nicole Ciricillo sent a shot to left field. Ciricillo's single brought home the runner at third, marking her third RBI of the season.

Cortland pulled ahead again in the bottom of the frame, putting the score at 2-1 in favor of the Red Dragons on one hit and one error.

The Bombers recorded their strongest inning of the two-game set in the top of the third. With runners at second and third, Robichaud grounded out to the shortstop. Freshman Allie Colleran advanced home on the throw to first, reaching home safely on a throwing error by the Cortland defense. Gavin smashed a double down the right field line on the next play, bringing home another Ithaca run to put the score at 3-2 in favor of the Bombers.

The Red Dragons went on to score lone runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth inning, once again pulling ahead by a score of 4-3. The Bombers were unable to answer back, giving Cortland the 4-3 game two win.
