Hawks Rally for Win; Alfred Blanks Opponent; Stevens Upends Skidmore
HARTWICK v Oswego
Sunday's men's tennis match against Oswego State (5-6) came down to the final two singles matches. Seniors
Brian Redder and
Will Gilbraith would come away with wins for Hartwick to secure the team's first victory of the season. The Hawks won by a count of 5-4 over the Lakers.
The Hawks were in good shape after doubles play as they took two of three matches. Redder and Gilbraith won at first doubles by a margin of 8-6 over Oswego's Alex McCarthy and Brian Lyudmer.
John Talbot and
Liam Brown also claimed a victory at second doubles over Spencer Thorn and Tim Van Hine, also by a score of 8-6.
Jefferson Monastoque would earn a 6-4, 6-2 win for the Hawks at fifth singles. He improves to 3-2 on the season.
The Lakers would earn wins at the #1, #4, and #6 flights giving them a 4-3 advantage with results in the #2 and #3 flights still taking place.
Gilbraith would emerge with a win at third singles over Lyudmer. He won the first set 6-4 and secured the victory after coming out on top in a second-set tie-breaker, 8-6.
Redder needed three sets at second singles against Ryan Korn. After sweeping the first set, 6-0, Korn evened the match with a second-set tie-break, 7-6 (8-6). But, Redder earned the victory in the third set, 6-1, to claim his third straight singles win.
ALFRED v UTICA
The Alfred University men's tennis team earned its first Empire 8 Conference win of the season with a 9-0 victory at Utica Sunday.
Earning singles wins for the Saxons were junior
Connor Doud, 6-1, 6-0 in first singles; senior
Michael Graham , 6-3, 6-3 in second singles; junior
Kevin Volz, 6-1, 6-0 in third singles; sophomore
Evan Haskins , 8-0 in fourth singles; junior
Matt Baloga, 6-0, 6-0 in fifth singles; and sophomore
Patrick Brown, 6-4, 6-0 in sixth singles.
Doud and Volz won first doubles, 8-0; Graham and Haskins took second doubles, 8-1; and Brown and freshman
Mike Wisniewski won third doubles, 8-2.
STEVENS v Skidmore
The No. 24 Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis knocked off its fifth nationally ranked team this spring in a 7-2 win over No. 26 Skidmore College.
The win moved Stevens to 11-5 while Skidmore fell to 8-7.

Danny Polk got the Ducks started with an 8-3 win at third doubles before juniors
Matthew Heinrich and
Ben Foran closed out an 8-5 win at No. 1. The win was the third of the spring for the Stevens doubles "A" team.
Sophomore

Kyle Henry closed out doubles with an 8-6 win at No. 3 for the duos third win of the season together, giving the Ducks a commanding 3-0 lead heading into singles.
Foran continued to run with a 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles before Drake picked-up the 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4 to clinch the match. Skidmore did manage to get on the board with a win at No. 2 before gaining another with a win at No. 1.
ITHACA v TCNJ
The Ithaca College men's tennis team was in action Sunday at The College of New Jersey. In the men's dual match, TCNJ defeated Ithaca 8-1.
The TCNJ men's team is ranked 39th nationally and 12th in the Northeast Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Ithaca's victory came at fourth singles, where
Wes Davis was a 4-6, 6-1, 10-5 winner.
Ithaca's men's tennis team returrns to action Sunday, April 19 at home against Nazareth College at 10 a.m. The Ithaca College women's tennis team hosts Hamilton College at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 15.
