Scranton, PA -- The Elmira College baseball team entered today's game on a high note after picking up their first win in program history in their last outing but the Soaring Eagles would come out on the wrong end of a 15-3 decision this afternoon to the University of Scranton.

Scranton had their bats working early and often as 10 of their 15 runs were scored in the game's first four innings, putting the Royals on top 10-1.  Elmira's lone run in the four innings came with the bases loaded when Alexander Taulien '17 hit into a double play which scored Jack Thistle '18.

The Royals maintained their nine-run lead until the top of the seventh when the Soaring Eagles scored once again with the bases loaded.  Hayden Rothenberg '17 was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, which brought home Matt van Muelken '18 to cut the Scranton lead to eight.

However, Scranton would answer in the bottom half of the seventh inning with five runs and would hold Elmira to just one in the final two innings.  Scoring Elmira's final run of the game was van Muelken, who crossed home plate on a sacrifice fly by Thistle.

Elmira will look to bounce back from today's setback as the Soaring Eagles travel to take on the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Wednesday, April 15th.  The first pitch is set for 3:30 p.m. in Bradford, PA.
